MySpace "tragedy" reminds me the of purpose of MY blogging
Some teen of the emo subculture killed himself and left a clue on MySpace.
This may sound cold, but let me do some posturing. My condolences go to the family of the boy; but I have absolutely no sympathy for him. I have no sympathy for those who use suicide as a means of getting attention--whether they go through with the act or not. Now would I try to stop someone I cared about from suicide? Yes; but if that someone remained recalcitrant, I would interpret that as a sign of great ingratitude and simply leave him/her to his/her own depridations. We are not God. We cannot be blamed if give up on someone who refuses help.
This whole thing reminded me of the purpose of my blogging. I don't want any attention--in fact, the fewer readers I get, the better. I am doing this for me.
